It seems harder and harder to find genuinely calm, peaceful, traffic-free cycling routes these days — but we're lucky to be surrounded by routes where you can cycle for miles and scarcely see a car.
Danegelts B&B is right on National Cycle Route 1 (NCR 1) — which you can follow all the way from Dover up the eastern side of Britain to the Highlands of Scotland. More locally, it's a link between the two great East Anglian county towns: Ipswich in Suffolk, and Norwich in Norfolk.
Heading north from here, it's a very pleasant 20 miles or so to Norwich, on wonderfully quiet back roads.
Heading south, it's about 45 miles to Ipswich on Route 1 — or you might be tempted by local cycling route 31 which takes you to the coast at Southwold, perhaps the most delightful seaside town in this part of the country.
At Danegelts your hosts Edward & Aina are committed cyclists, both locally and further afield (have a look at 33rides.com to find out about a journey by train and bicycle around 33 38 European countries). We'll be happy to share tips for routes nearby — and in North Macedonia, for that matter.
We can provide secure and dry accommodation for your bikes in the garage, plus a track pump and full set of tools which you're welcome to use should you arrive with "a mechanical".
